The step by step process of removing a wall that had thermal breaches allowing unconditioned air into the building which in turn supported microbial growth.
Below you will find photos for a recent mold remediation job that we worked on. The white paint is actually called "encapsulate". Removal of sheetrock walls ceilings doors and bathroom cabinets were done due to microbial contamination. The first photo is the containment built to keep the mold spore in the remediation environment so they do not cross contaminate the rest of the home. In addition, foam had to be used to stop the air leaks at the doors, wire, pipe, and other thermal breaches. This unconditioned attic air was mixing with the home conditioned air causing high enough "water activity Aw" to support mold growth.
